On this Yom ha-Zikaron (Memorial Day) and eve of Yom ha-Atzma‘ut (Independence Day), let us all remind ourselves of the crucial part the State of Israel has played in the preservation of the Jewish people. One cannot imagine Am Yisrael after the Holocaust without the State of Israel as its focal point: The remnant of the nation would have been reduced to insignificant numbers, the trends of assimilation would have accelerated, the ingathering to Israel of exiles from every corner of the earth would not have happened, and lastly, we would not be witnessing the movement of return of the Bnei Anousim. Therefore let us recognize the magnitude of our blessings and look forward with great hope to the continuous historical process of Qibbutz Galuyot, the ingathering of our people to our Land.
